Welcome to St.Thomas'

Prayer for the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Dear Jesus,

We thank You for Your Sacred Heart, full of love for each one of us. You show us how to be kind, gentle, and full of mercy. Help us to open our hearts to You and to others, so we can share Your love in our school, our homes, and our world.

Teach us to be patient, to forgive, and to care for those in need. May Your heart be our guide in all we do. We pray that our hearts may grow more like Yours each day.

Sacred Heart of Jesus, we place our trust in You.

Amen.

Celebrating the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

This week, our school community united to celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a meaningful occasion that reminds us of Christ’s boundless love and compassion. Led reverently by our Year 3 students, the prayer service delivered a heartfelt message: Love one another, just as Jesus loves you. Throughout the week, students engaged in prayer, reflection, and classroom activities that encouraged them to live out this message in their daily lives.

Raising Digitally Resilient Children – Parent Workshop

Navigating the digital world as a parent can be challenging. To support families, we’re hosting a Parent Workshop on Tuesday 1 July, 5.30–6.30pm in the School Hall, presented by Claire Orange from Digii Social—an eSafety Commissioner-endorsed platform. Digii Social aims to:

· Teach online safety

· Promote digital citizenship

· Support digital wellbeing

Childminding will be available in the library. Register for the workshop and childminding HERE.

CEWA Executive Visit

We were honoured to welcome Paul Andrews, the Director of People and Culture from CEWA last Tuesday. Paul toured classrooms and met with our Leadership Team to discuss school improvement and future directions. It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the

vibrant learning environment and innovative programs at our school.

P&F Movie Trivia Night

Our P&F Movie Trivia Night was a huge success! Families came together for a fun-filled evening of themed costumes, and community spirit, all while raising funds for two new student water fountains, one in the early years area, and the other in the years 1-6 play area. A heartfelt thank you to our P&F team, prize donors, and volunteers who made the night so memorable.

Year 5 Assembly

Last Friday, our Year 5 students presented a creative and engaging assembly based on the Gospel story Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand. They beautifully linked this story to their learning in report writing and drama. Thank you to Mrs Pitcher, our talented students, and supportive families for a wonderful showcase.

Founders Day Mass – Wednesday 2 July, 9am

Next Wednesday, we celebrate Founders Day, honouring the Presentation Sisters who founded our school in 1908 and their foundress, Nano Nagle. We also pay tribute to our namesake, St. Thomas the Apostle. Students from Pre-primary to Year 6 will be attending Mass. Parents and families are welcome to join us for Mass next Wednesday 2 July at 9am in the Church.

Venue: STPS Undercover area
Date: Tuesday 24 June
Time: 5:00pm students arrive for rehearsal/set-up, for a 5:30pm concert start
Costume: classes have been informed of their costume, students should attend in their costume at 5pm.
Arrangement: parents will be seated in the undercover area, with standing area behind. Once their class performs, children are permitted to be signed out to their parents from the hall.

MID-YEAR REPORTS

Another reminder that Mid-Year reports will be available for parents to download through Seqta Engage in the afternoon of Monday 23 June. An email will be sent to parents of Kindergarten to Year Six students, with more information about when the download is available. Please note:

  • For Kindergarten students, a school-based report is given documenting some developmental progress based on the WA Kindergarten Guidelines, as well as a general comment about the student’s progress this semester;
  • For Pre-primary students, a report documenting current achievement in all learning areas is given. A five-point scale is used to show the student’s current progress toward achievement at, below or above year-level standard (as set by SCSA). It will also contain social and interpersonal indicators, and comments for Religious Education, English, Mathematics and a general comment.
  • For Year 1 to Year 6 students, a five-point A-E scale is used to communicate current achievement in all learning areas showing the student’s current progress toward achievement at, below or above year-level standard (as set by SCSA). It will also contain social and interpersonal indicators, and comments for Religious Education, English, Mathematics and a general comment.
  • Any student working on goals outside of class level curriculum will have ‘modified curriculum’ noted and no grade given. Comments related to the student’s individual learning goals will be made.
  • A ‘C’ grade shows the student is demonstrating the required level of achievement in a learning area, and is a celebration, given the rigorous academic program offered.

Mini Vinnies Coup Drive Success

This winter, our Mini Vinnies at St Thomas’ demonstrated the power of compassion and community through their successful Soup Drive. With the support of our generous school families, students collected a variety of canned soup to donate to The Shopfront, a local Catholic organisation that provides assistance to those experiencing hardship.

The initiative was a wonderful example of our students living out the values of empathy and service, showing that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference. Thank you to everyone who contributed, your support helped bring warmth and comfort to many this season.

Years 3 & 4 STEM Showcase

This Semester Years 3 & 4 have been taking part in enrichment STEM activities. We invite you to come along to Morning Gathering on Monday 23rd June at 8.40am to watch the presentations on how they created their shoes (Year 3) and boats (Year 4) using the Design Thinking Process.

We also invite parents/carers to view the finished products in the Makerspace, which will be open from 3.00-3.30pm every afternoon during week 9 (23rd – 27th June). The students are very excited to share their learning and hard work with everyone.

P&F Thank you!

On Friday 6th June, St Thomas’ P&F hosted a successful fundraiser with a special focus on raising funds, to purchase a new water fountain for our children.
The P&F would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for all your generous support leading up to the event via the TryBooking donations, support in not only attending the event but all the volunteers that assisted with the set up and pack down. Last but not least, the overwhelming generosity during the live auctions on the night where we raised $8,238. Together with the tickets sales, contributions and P&F funds, it is our pleasure to announce that we have not only raised enough to buy a new drink fountain for the upper years but also purchase a new drink fountain for the younger years.
This achievement is a true reflection of our school community’s spirit, support and generosity. We are truly grateful, thankful and blessed to be part of an incredible community.

Heartfelt thanks
